Boro have lost their last three home games and Southgate wants his players to deal with the fans frustrations, or risk jeopardising the promotion push.
"We have to resolve it at home, we can't say we don't like playing here," he told BBC Tees.
"The fans are entitled to say what they like after our performances."
Southgate's own future remains in the balance, with sections of the club's supports making audibly clear after the game their views on his spell in charge so far this season.
However, the former Boro player - who captained the club to a Uefa Cup final in 2006 - remains committed to the job and believes the current home situation can be rectified..
"I've got to handle that, I'm just desperate to get it right here as we've seen how effective we've been away from home," he said.
