There had been fears that Grant McCann would be ruled out after taking a knock against Sheffield United, but he has been passed fit.
Newcastle will again be without defenders Steven Taylor (hamstring) and Fabricio Coloccini (groin).
Coloccini is expected to return for the game against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday, but Tuesday evening's match comes too soon for him.
Saturday's 3-1 victory at home to Sheffield United was another example of Scunthorpe's ability to upset some of the Championship's big guns.
Now one of the biggest of them all, Newcastle, visit Glanford Park looking to make amends for a defeat at Nottingham Forest which resulted in them being knocked off the top of the table.
Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins declared after Saturday's result that a win against any Championship club was a "fantastic achievement."
Beating Newcastle would be a particularly sweet moment for The Iron given their relative lack of resources. And the way they dismantled their Yorkshire rivals at the weekend suggests they could cause the Magpies problems.
